Serenity Yoga - Moderate Level of Practice - Lesson 8 E-mail
Welcome to Lesson 8 in Serenity Yoga, using the moderately demanding level of poses. This is an exciting lesson where we learn the Sun Salutation - at whatever level you're able to practice it.

After a good warm up for our breathing, we learn the poses that make up the Sun Salutation, study modifications to make them possible and combine them into a Vinyasa, as series of flowing movements. We will use Breathing Themes 2, 2.5 & 5 to help the Sun Salutation flow.

To make the best use of these lessons, click on the PDF download button to the right.

Look over the lesson and get an idea of its focus, get an idea of the focus of the lesson, get a general feel for the poses and how the Breathing Themes encourages you to approach them. Watch Corinne's video on Sun Salutation to get a better idea of how to go about the movments. If there are poses that are new to you, take the time to learn them, one or two at a time, and then integrate them into what you already know of the routine. (The poses in the lesson are listed here, along with the lesson PDF. Click on the pose names and you'll be taken to the posture page that teaches you, in detail, how to do them.)

It can take time to become comfortable with the Sun Salutation. Once you have a good idea of the movements and how they go together, practice it for a week or two focusing on the breathing, doing a few rounds as a start to your regular practice. Then practice routines from your previous lessons. After a few weeks, you'll be ready to move on to Lesson 9, where you'll be able to practice your Sun Salutation more with each lesson.
